CEO & Celebrity Radio Presenter

? When and how did your journey to UAE begin?
I have lived all my life in Dubai. This has been my home ever since i was born. My entire family lives in Dubai, including my parents and sisters. The UAE is the only real home that i have known.

? Tell us something interesting about your social gatherings, friends and food habits?
Since we have always lived in the UAE all our life, we are blessed to have lots of friends that are like family to us. My husband Gaurav Tandon is a renowned Television personality and The biggest Asian Food Critic in the Middle East, so at our home every other day, we have some of the best chefs in the city who come and cook up delicacies for all of us. We are forever entertaining at home and love having so many people at our place.

? Let’s talk about your education? Where did you complete your studies from?
While i did my schooling in Dubai, I did my graduation from Delhi University and my Post Graduation and Masters in Mass Communication from the International Institute of Mass Communication in Delhi.

? What is your advice for those aspiring to work abroad?
My biggest advice to people aspiring to work abroad is, to get to know the culture of the place and be sensitive to the beliefs of people living in that country. Also people should do adequate research on the place before moving there or taking up a job there.

? How helpful is the Indian Community to those who have recently arrived in the country? Can you share any personal experiences?
Owning to the fact that i have my own Radio show, I’ve always worked very closely with the Indian consulate and some of the most prominent members of the Indian community in the UAE. Whenever i've tried to help people through my show, the Indian community has always given all their support in the form of collecting funds to providing morale support, it’s absolutely overwhelming.

? Over all these years, when was the one time you missed India the most?
Whenever we celebrate major festivals, that’s when i miss India the most. Also with the kind of vigor and valor, with which we celebrate the Independence day, makes me miss India. It’s the sense of patriotism that binds us all together.

? How do you feel about residing in UAE? What do you like the most about UAE ?
I love living in the UAE. I love the fact that all nationalities enjoy the freedom to pursue their culture and beliefs. People are accorded due respect and people from so many different countries live in perfect harmony with each other. The quality of life and the standard of living in the UAE is unparalleled.

? How do you spend your leisure time apart from work?
Owning to the fact that I'm a Media Personality, where i have my own Radio show and at the same time, i produce 5 TV shows and am the CEO of the largest Asian TV and Radio production company in the middle east, this makes it mandatory for me to attend all the social gatherings in the city. I literally have very little time when I’m not inaugurating at functions or attending them. However whatever little time i get, in that time i like to read.

? Tell us about you’re the secret of your success. Your idea of women entrepreneurship, how is Women entrepreneurship important for the development of India.
There really is no secret to succeed. It’s a mixture of a lot of hard work, single minded focus, the ability to dream and to make your dreams a reality. Women entrepreneurs are pivotal for growth and a balanced economic environment.

? Your advice for aspiring working women abroad especially in Gulf countries.
The gulf is a fantastic place to work for women. There is no dearth of growth opportunities and security is never an issue here. Women are well respected in the work force as compared to a lot of countries around the world. My advice is to give it your best shot, because success is just around the corner.

? Apart from UAE, if you had to live in any other country, which one would it be?
That’s a tough question for me to answer, because i can’t ever think of living anywhere but the UAE. However if i have to then i would like to live in the UK. The reason for that is that for my profession i feel it’s a mature market and the sky is the limit there.

? Are there any similarities between India and UAE?
The UAE is often referred to as Mini India, because of the number of Indians residing here and the proximity to India. There are lots of similarities actually too many to list.

? What have been recent achievements and contribution to the NRI community?
The NRI community in the UAE is probably one of the most prosperous and affluent NRI communities in the world. From the largest hospital chains, to the largest schools to the largest retail foot print, they have achieved it all.

? How do you plan to further nourish the NRI society in the coming few months? (Future Plans, cultural or professional events, social service activities, etc.)
I consider my life here and my accolades a true blessing, from being awarded as the Emirates Woman of the year to being The Times Now NRI of the year. All this is a result of the love of my fans. Through my radio show I’ve managed to help a lot of less fortunate people and i aspire to continue that. Radio is a very powerful tool and can be used to extend help and support to people who are needy and need that help.

? Hypothetically speaking if a person has just received an NRI status, what are those few things that he/she must definitely know?
I feel that NRI's have more of a moral responsibility towards fellow Indians. They should try and look to encouraging and promoting in placing Indians in different jobs. Apart from that one should always have the number of the Indian Consulate and Embassy saved on their phones for in case of emergency and the biggest thing once you become an NRI please remember you are an Ambassador for your country, be mindful not to make your country look bad through your actions.

? Do you have any message you that would like to share with other like-minded NRIs across the globe?
I wish that NRI's around the world had more platforms to connect with each other. We need to inspire each other and celebrate the achievements of fellow Indians living outside the country. Collectively we are a force to reckon with and we should be able to grow together.
