Qatar Foundation is set to open Lawh Wa Qalam: M. F. Husain Museum, a landmark cultural destination dedicated to celebrating the life and work of renowned Indian modernist artist Maqbool Fida Husain. The museum will officially open its doors on 28 November 2025 at Education City, Doha.

The museum promises to offer immersive multimedia experiences, featuring a diverse collection of paintings, films, tapestries, photography, poetry, and installations that capture Husain’s creative brilliance and global influence.

One of the main highlights will be Seeroo fi al ardh, Husain’s final large-scale installation, which reflects his vision of progress, civilization, and humanity. The museum will also exhibit a series of paintings inspired by Arab civilization, commissioned by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser. Husain completed over 35 pieces for this collection before his passing.

Uniquely, the museum’s architectural design is based on a sketch drawn by Husain himself, making the building an extension of his artistic legacy — a living canvas that embodies his creative philosophy.

Lawh Wa Qalam aims to foster creativity, cultural dialogue, and cross-cultural understanding, serving as a bridge between communities across India, Pakistan, Qatar, and beyond. It is poised to become a vibrant space for art enthusiasts, students, and visitors from around the world to experience Husain’s artistic journey and its enduring message of unity through art.
