Saturday, August 16, 2025 Doha
The Indian community in Qatar celebrated India’s 79th Independence Day with traditional fervour at the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) in Doha. The commemorative ceremony was attended by over 350 members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India.
Ambassador Vipul hoisted the tricolour, followed by the national anthem and heartfelt tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. He read excerpts from President Droupadi Murmu’s Independence Day address, highlighting themes of liberty, justice, equality, and human dignity.
The Ambassador also underscored the deepening strategic partnership between India and Qatar—a milestone solidified during the Amir’s state visit to India earlier this year. He expressed gratitude to Qatar’s leadership for their support and lauded the contributions of Indian community organisations toward civic and cultural progress.
The ceremony featured vibrant cultural performances by Indian community groups and students, showcasing songs and dances that reflected India’s rich heritage. The entire event was also live-streamed on the Embassy’s official Facebook and YouTube platforms, ensuring widespread participation.
