When and how did your journey to Kuwait begin?
I travelled to Kuwait in 1996 as my husband was working in Kuwait. I always had an interest in helping people and i used to do it back home as well. Which is why it carried on here in Kuwait. My journey as a social activist started when my neighbor passed away and the family didn’t know how to get his deceased body back home. I helped them with the paper work and to send him back home.

Tell us a bit about you, your family and your life in Kuwait.
I’m a mother of 3 children. I’m grateful about how my children have been raised as they also help me with my social work. All of us in the family are pet lovers. We also rescued many animals. My life in Kuwait has constantly been busy. I’m constantly helping out people one after another.

What is your advice for those aspiring to work abroad?
My advice to anyone who wants to work abroad is that, Life abroad is not as easy as it looks like in the movies. There are cultural differences as well as differences in the language and mindset. It takes sometime to adjust to the lifestyle here as there are many rules that you cannot break or go against.

How helpful is the Indian Community to those who have recently arrived in the country? Can you share any personal experiences?
Honestly, it depends from person to person. There are some people who would really like to help but not all have the same agenda. Some like to live without interfering into anyone else’s problems. Whereas, others will do anything to help the other. There is no middle-gap.

Over all these years, when was the one time you missed India the most?
I miss India during the festivals. The lights, food and the culture that’s there here is very different in Kuwait.

How do you feel about residing in Kuwait? What do you like the most about Kuwait?
For me, Kuwait is my second home and living in Kuwait for so many years, we’ve gotten attached to the system. Kuwait is a chance for every single individual to start a new beginning.

How do you spend your leisure time? Let us know about your social work.
If you’re a social activist there is no leisure time as you’ll be receiving calls and work in the middle of the night and since every single call is very important. You’ll have to attend it.

Most of the people, who’ve come to me or I’ve come across are usually individuals who have been cheated by their agents or have been treated unfairly by their sponsors. Most of the times I help the Indian stranded workers and labour’s from different countries who are also stranded in Kuwait.

Your advice for aspiring working women abroad especially in Gulf countries.
Do not come on house maid visa but you’re most welcomed as skilled pack expats in gulf countries.

Tell us about you’re the secret of your success. Your idea of entrepreneurship, how is entrepreneurship important for the development of India.
The secret lies is my dedication and workaholic nature. Entrepreneurship derives the increment of employment thus increases the per capita of income and thus makes happy India.

How do you plan to further nourish the NRI society in the coming few months?
I look forward to generate the spirit of organising the different subjection events amongst the NRI society.
