Radio Jockey
? When and how did your journey to Bahrain begin?
I was working as an RJ come producer in one of the Radio stations in India. In 2013 I got to know that there is an opportunity in Bahrain through some online group and hence I applied for the same and fortunately got selected also. In a month's time after that, I was already here in Bahrain and started working as a Radio Jockey at 104.2 Your Fm.
? Tell us a bit about you, your family and your life in Bahrain.
My family is settled in Punjab and I am living here on my own, it's been almost 4 years. My life in Bahrain is all about my work, as I am really enjoying my job and my field-Radio!
? Tell us something interesting about your social gatherings, friends, and food habits?
I love to socialise with people who have similar interest areas as I do. I love to go out for shopping, dinning and partying. I have my colleagues and some friends in Bahrain with whom I try to meet almost every week as I am a kind of an out going person! About food, I am a hardcore punjabi and I love punjabi and North Indian food.
? Let’s talk about your education? Where did you complete your studies from?
I have a masters degree in mass communication and journalism and along with that I had also pursued MA in religious studies. Both the degrees are issued to me by Punjabi University Patiala Punjab!
? How much do you miss India and what do you miss the most?
Just like every other Indian, I also miss My country A LOT! Especially the food and my family.
? What is your advice for those aspiring to work abroad?
Advice- Just believe in yourself! Follow your dreams and work hard and Keep trying.
? Over all these years, when was the one time you missed India the most?
Well, there are many but I remember these two as they had some really strong after effects on me. I remember once my mother was unwell and of course, as I was far away I couldn't be with her at that time for which I still feel bad. And another one is when due to circumstances I couldn't attend my sister's wedding.
? How easy or difficult was it to settle in during the first few months?
It wasn't difficult as such! People here are welcoming and very composed! So settling down was not an issue. But I would definitely like to share that food was a big issue when I had arrived in Bahrain. Though I am a Punjabi but I used to prefer vegetarian food back in India. But now I would say I am in love with all kinds of kabab and some other non veg dishes also which awakens the punjabi inside me!
? Do you have any message you that would like to share with other like-minded NRIs across the globe?
Whatever you are doing, whatever you are earning just make sure you have enough to Share. Whatever it is, food or clothes or even a smile, Just share it!
