After Kerala Women’s Deaths, New Support Platform for Indian Expats in UAE

In the wake of recent tragic deaths of Indian women from Kerala in Sharjah, the Indian Association Sharjah (IAS) is launching a new support initiative to assist expat families in conflict resolution and mental health.

Starting August 2, 2025, the IAS will host weekly “Family Dispute Redressal Sessions” on Saturdays at their community centre. Senior IAS leaders will meet with Sharjah Police’s Community Preventive & Protection Department to address sensitive issues such as marital discord, domestic violence, and mental distress.

These sessions will be conducted by trained counsellors and community volunteers, including school counsellors from the Sharjah Indian School. They aim to foster safe, cultural spaces for families seeking help.

The platform offers structured guidance and, during emergencies, families can be referred to the Indian Consulate in Dubai’s Workers’ Resource Centre, which provides 24/7 psychological support and legal aid.
