Saudi Customs Seize Over 400,000 Captagon Pills Hidden in Sheep Fur
Saturday, August 9, 2025 Riyadh

Saudi Arabia’s Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) thwarted a massive drug smuggling attempt at the Al-Haditha border crossing, intercepting 406,395 amphetamine tablets (Captagon) concealed in the fur of an imported livestock shipment. The sheep arrived via Jordan in a fully compliant transport, but advanced detection technologies and sniffer dogs uncovered the hidden narcotics.

Following the seizure, three suspects—believed to be the intended recipients inside the Kingdom—were arrested after coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.

ZATCA reiterated its commitment to enhancing customs controls and urged the public to report any suspicious smuggling activity via the confidential hotline 1910, email 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or international number 009661910. Informants providing verified information may be eligible for a reward.

ZATCA ensures complete confidentiality and provides financial rewards for accurate information.
