Saudi Expands Food Law Violations to Include Delivery Staff & Tracking Systems

Key Highlights:

  • The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, in coordination with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), has updated the Table of Food Law Violations to strengthen food safety nationwide.

  • New violations now monitored include:

    • Conduct by delivery personnel

    • Food traceability systems

    • Proper handling of food poisoning incidents

    • Mandatory record-keeping and transparency in food operations

  • The revised rules apply to a broad spectrum of food outlets and offer a graduated enforcement approach—warnings and correction periods for minor infractions, and immediate penalties for serious violations.

  • Enhanced requirements for menu labeling now cover salt, caffeine, and physical activity content—supporting informed, healthier choices.

  • This update is part of a shift towards a preventive regulatory system, embedding fairness and consumer protection at its core.
