Saudi Arabia Cuts Umrah Visa Entry Validity to One Month — 2025 Update
Thursday, November 6, 2025 Riyadh

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia has announced a major change to its Umrah visa regime: the entry validity of issued Umrah visas has been reduced from three months to approximately one month. Additionally, any visa that remains unused beyond 30 days from issuance will be automatically cancelled.

▶️ Key Points

  • Pilgrims must now enter Saudi Arabia within 30 days of visa issuance; previously they had up to 90 days.

  • If entry does not occur within 30 days, the visa will be cancelled automatically — no extension or re-validation will be offered.

  • The update applies to all types of Umrah visas going forward and is part of broader efforts to improve crowd-flow management and enhance pilgrim safety and service.

  • Travel agents and pilgrims are advised to update their plans and ensure timely entry following visa issuance to avoid cancellation or disruption.

📝 Why the Change?

Officials say the shorter validity window will help better regulate the large number of pilgrims, reduce visa misuse, and streamline travel logistics ahead of busy pilgrimage periods. The move aligns with Saudi Arabia’s ongoing initiatives to modernize and digitize the Umrah experience.

✅ What Pilgrims Should Do

  • Confirm your entry date falls within 30 days of your visa issuance.

  • Coordinate with your travel agent for immediate booking of flights, accommodations and transportation.

  • If you have already obtained a visa under the older validity (three months), confirm with your provider whether the one-month rule applies to you.

  • After entry, ensure timely completion of Umrah rituals and departure in line with the visa conditions.
