Despite the hot and humid morning, more than 3,000 members of the Indian community in Kuwait gathered at the Indian Embassy premises to celebrate the 79th Independence Day of India on 15 August 2025. The event was led by Ambassador Dr. Adarsh Swaika, who began the ceremony with floral tributes to the Mahatma Gandhi statue, followed by the Hoisting of the National Flag and singing of the National Anthem. The Independence Day address by President Droupadi Murmu was read out, and key highlights from Prime Minister Modi's speech were shared during the event.
In his address, Ambassador Swaika thanked the State of Kuwait for its support and emphasized the strong India–Kuwait bilateral relations. He described the embassy as a “home away from home” for the community and lauded the cultural and institutional partnerships that continue to bind India and Kuwait.
The event featured fellowship among the attendees and concluded with breakfast, courtesy of local Indian restaurants.
