Expat Sentenced to 10 Years in Jail for Using Fake Degree in Bahrain
A High Criminal Court in Bahrain has sentenced an expatriate to 10 years in prison after it was discovered that he had been working at the Electricity and Water Authority for 13 years using a forged university degree in electrical engineering.
The case came to light when the Authority attempted to verify the man's credential with the Ministry of Education. The Foreign Ministry’s cultural attaché subsequently confirmed that the purported university was fake, unaccredited, and not recognized by any official body.
Despite working legitimately based on the forged certificate, the forgery was brought to light, and the court convicted him for using a falsified document to gain and renew employment
