UAE Imposes Minimum Salary Rule for Visit Visa Sponsors – 2025 Update
Monday, November 3, 2025 Dubai

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) in the United Arab Emirates has introduced revised minimum income criteria for residents who wish to sponsor visitors on visit visas.

📌 Key Income Thresholds

  • First-degree relatives (parents, spouse, children): AED 4,000/month

  • Second- and third-degree relatives (siblings, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins): AED 8,000/month

  • Friends or non-relatives: AED 15,000/month

In addition to the income requirement, applicants must provide proof of relationship (where applicable), a passport valid for at least six months, and a return travel ticket.

🧭 Why the Change?

According to travel industry experts and immigration officials, the update improves transparency, reduces abuse of visit-visa pathways, and aligns with the UAE’s goal of attracting genuine visitors and skilled talent.

📝 What This Means for Sponsors

Residents earning less than the required thresholds may no longer be eligible to sponsor certain relatives or friends on a visit visa. The rule is specific to visit visas, not residence visas.

Sponsors should check their salary records, ensure their documentation is in order, and confirm which relationship category applies before applying.
