UAE Citizens Can Now Renew or Replace Emirates IDs in Just One Step
Friday, September 12, 2025 Dubai
As part of its ongoing digital transformation and the second phase of the Zero Bureaucracy Programme, the UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) has introduced a simplified one-step process for Emirates ID renewal and replacement for citizens. The new system, available via the ICP website and mobile app, requires just submission of a single smart form and the applicable fee—eliminating redundant fields such as address and personal data already stored in government systems.
A key improvement is the automatic setting of the ID's validity period based on age, similar to Emirati passports:
-
10 years for those aged 21 and above
-
5 years for applicants under 21
For replacements, the new ID retains the original card’s remaining validity. Applicants cannot manually adjust this validity period.
This development aligns with the UAE’s commitment to enhancing citizen experiences, increasing efficiency, and reducing administrative barriers.
