A UAE-based Indian entrepreneur, VP Shameer Medon, was rescued by Kerala Police after being abducted in Malappuram during a short family visit.

Shameer, co-owner of a Dubai-based pharmacy chain with nearly 60 outlets, was intercepted at around 7:45 PM on August 12 near Pandikkad while riding a motorcycle. The kidnappers forcibly bundled him into a Toyota Innova, as captured on CCTV. Authorities confirmed he was targeted with a ransom demand of ₹1.5 crore via calls made from his own phone to his family and business partners. Four suspects have already been arrested.

A nationwide manhunt ensued, and Shameer was safely located in Kollam district, over 300 km away, through a coordinated operation involving Kerala Police and intelligence inputs.
