SpiceJet Dubai-Delhi Flight SG-12 Lands Without Checked Bags — Passengers Left Stranded
Saturday, October 11, 2025 Dubai

A SpiceJet flight from Dubai to New Delhi landed on the evening of 8 October 2025, carrying 148 passengers, but none of their checked-in luggage — every single bag was left behind in Dubai.

The flight, SG-12, departed from Dubai around midday (12:00 PM GST / ~1:30 PM IST), after a minor delay. Passengers were stunned upon arrival at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, where the baggage carousel showed no sign of their luggage.

Once the issue was realized, airline staff instructed travellers to fill out Baggage Irregularity Reports (BIRs). Passengers were told that their baggage would arrive on the next available flight. Many criticized the explanation — the airline later claimed the aircraft was overweight and that all checked-in bags had been offloaded in Dubai. But passengers questioned how the overweight issue arose after checking in the baggage.

Frustrations were amplified by the lack of clear communication. Several passengers said they received no announcements or updates during the flight or while waiting in Delhi. Essential items in luggage — clothes, personal items, medications — were inaccessible, causing inconvenience and stress.

As of the latest reports, SpiceJet had not released a full public statement detailing how this error occurred, nor how the airline plans to compensate affected passengers. Airport authorities and airline staff are reportedly investigating the incident.
